East Hampton’s beaches are run by two governments. The Village of East Hampton runs five ocean beaches: Main Beach, Georgica, Two Mile Hollow, Egypt and Wiborg. The Town of East Hampton runs Maidstone Park Beach in Springs, a bay beach with a pavilion and playground. It also keeps four unguarded bay landings: Louse Point, Gerard Drive, Flaggy Hole and Sammy’s Beach. Suffolk County adds Cedar Point County Park on Gardiner’s Bay.
Only Main, Georgica and Two Mile Hollow have lifeguards, 10am to 5pm from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, and the Village flies a four-color flag system. Dogs are the sharpest difference: the Village bars them 9am to 6pm from May 15 to September 15.

Village versus Town
Village lifeguard jurisdiction runs from Georgica Pond to the area east of Two Mile Hollow, where the Town’s begins. Crossing that line changes the flags, the hours and the dog rules. The Town’s ocean beaches in the next hamlet are on the Amagansett page.
Vehicles are barred from Village beaches 9am to 6pm from May 15 to September 15, and driving on the sand requires a Town of East Hampton permit. For parking and permits see Hamptons Beach Pass, and for the flag colors see the swim flag guide.
