A tidal creek winding through salt marsh at low tide, reflections of the sky in the mud flats, reeds, soft overcast light.

Flaggy Hole Beach

A Springs bay landing for boats, bait and walking, on the road to Maidstone Park.

  • Bay
  • No lifeguards
  • Flat, calm water
Best for
Launching a small boat, casting a line, an unhurried walk
Go when
Early morning, and outside the summer weekends
Mind this
No lifeguard; swimming is prohibited without one

Flaggy Hole Beach sits at the end of Flaggy Hole Road in Springs, the same road that leads to Maidstone Park. It has a launching ramp that needs a Town parking or launch permit, vehicle access in designated areas, no lifeguard, and no swimming when no guard is on duty.

It is for boats, bait and walking rather than swimming. A family that wants the water can split the day: launch or walk here, then drive a short way to Maidstone Park Beach for a lifeguarded swim, restrooms and a pavilion. Louse Point and Gerard Drive are the other Springs road ends.

The beach is open year-round. Dogs must be under control, and the Town’s 10am to 6pm limits apply from May 15 to September 15. Permits and launch rules are on Hamptons Beach Pass. The East Hampton page has the full list.
