Beaches in Amagansett

Two guarded ocean beaches, one guarded bay beach and a run of quiet unguarded ones.

Amagansett has the most varied shoreline of any South Fork hamlet, and all of its public beaches are run by the Town of East Hampton. On the ocean, Atlantic Avenue and Indian Wells are lifeguarded with accessible mats and surf wheelchairs. On Napeague Bay, Big Albert’s Landing is guarded, and Little Albert’s, Lazy Point and Napeague Lane are not.

That makes Amagansett the town to visit if your group wants two different days: ocean waves in the morning, bay calm or a sunset later.

The Town’s season is the same across all of them: guards start on Memorial Day weekend, work weekends until mid-June, then daily through Labor Day. The bay beaches start an hour later, at 10am.

Dogs may use the beaches under the Town’s rules, restricted 10am to 6pm from May 15 to September 15 and free outside it. Permits and drive-on passes are on Hamptons Beach Pass. The Amagansett itinerary shows how to use them in one day.
