Beaches in Westhampton Beach

Four public beaches on one barrier island, run by three different operators.

Westhampton Beach is the western end of the South Fork’s ocean shore, and its beaches sit on the barrier beach south of the village along Dune Road. Three operators run four of them: the Village of Westhampton Beach (Rogers and Lashley), the Town of Southampton (Pikes) and Suffolk County (Cupsogue Beach County Park).

That split matters because each operator keeps its own lifeguard calendar. The Village’s 2026 guards work weekends May 23 to June 28, then every day June 29 to September 7. The lifeguard calendar puts all of them side by side.

Choosing between them

Rogers is the easy default for a family. Cupsogue is the choice for anglers and campers, since the county lists some of the finest saltwater bass fishing on the island, off-road access with a permit and an RV camping area along the outer beach. Its bay side also offers quieter water for small children. Lashley sits at a jetty, which attracts surfers and fishermen and is a reminder to stay in the guarded area, as the rip current guide explains.

Dogs are the other split: the Town of Southampton bans them at its beach facilities from April 1 to October 1, while the Village and County pages list no dog rule. The dog-friendly beaches guide lists the months each operator relaxes.

Permit and parking rules for all four are on Hamptons Beach Pass.
