Pikes Beach is the Town of Southampton’s westernmost ocean beach, at 769 Dune Road in Westhampton Dunes. It has lifeguards, restrooms, an outdoor shower, handicapped beach access and a mobile concession, which is a full day’s kit on a barrier beach that otherwise has little.

The Town bought the beach in 1952 and ran it as a bathing beach until a 1994 hurricane washed away the road to it. It reopened in 2001 once the parking and comfort stations had been rebuilt. That history is why it feels like a barrier beach rather than a village beach: the sand is wide, the dunes are low and the wind is rarely absent. For the neighbors, see Rogers Beach in Westhampton Beach and Cupsogue Beach County Park to the west.

Parking is 57 spaces on the ocean side and 129 on the bay side, with permit rules on Hamptons Beach Pass. From April 1 to October 1 dogs are barred; the rest of the year they are allowed under immediate control, and never within 50 feet of posted plover areas. There is no alcohol, glass or smoking, and the beach closes at 9pm.
