Beaches in Sagaponack

One big guarded beach, the largest the Town of Southampton runs.

Sagaponack’s public ocean beach is Sagg Main Beach, at 1200 Sagg Main Street. The Town calls it the largest of its beaches, with more than 1,500 feet of ocean frontage, lifeguard supervision, outdoor showers, a deck with picnic tables and a mobile concession.

Everything else along the Sagaponack shore is a road end. The Town lists Peters Pond Lane among its unguarded access roads, and notes that dogs are allowed on them from July 1 to Labor Day only before 9am and after 6pm.

Where Sagg Main fits

Sagg Main sits where the Town of Southampton’s coast ends and the Town of East Hampton’s begins, so the nearest alternatives are different operators. Mecox Beach is the nearest Town of Southampton beach to the west. To the east, Wainscott’s Town Line and Beach Lane are unguarded East Hampton Town road ends, and Georgica Beach is the nearest East Hampton Village beach with lifeguards.

The Town’s 2026 map lists daily parking at Sagg Main Monday to Friday, excluding holidays. The Town renovated the amenities in 1993 and upgraded them in 2023. For permits and parking see Hamptons Beach Pass.
