Sagg Main is the largest of the Town of Southampton’s beaches, in Sagaponack, with more than 1,500 feet along the ocean at the east end of the Town’s coast. The Town bought it in 1958, renovated the amenities in 1993 and upgraded them again in 2023. Today it has lifeguards, outdoor showers, restrooms, a deck with picnic tables, a mobile concession stand, 170 parking spots and a beach wheelchair when an attendant is present.
That size makes it the Town’s most comfortable ocean beach for a group: room to spread out, a deck to retreat to, and showers at the end. It is still open Atlantic, with the usual shore break and rip risks. The swim flag guide explains how to ask a guard what the water is doing.
The address is 1200 Sagg Main Street, and Mecox is the nearest Town beach west. Dogs are barred from April 1 to October 1, there is no alcohol, glass or smoking, and the beach closes at 9pm. Daily parking is on the app on weekdays only, excluding holidays, and Hamptons Beach Pass has the details.
