No lifeguard, no stand, no published hours

Cryder Beach is a Village of Southampton road end for people who want less company than Cooper’s draws. There is no lifeguard, no stand and no published hours, so use it for a walk, a read or a fish at the water’s edge.

Swim only in calm conditions with an adult watching each child. The rip current guide explains how to read the water if you go in anyway. Southampton Village Ocean Rescue, a volunteer group dispatched through 911, answers calls on the unguarded beaches, which is a safety net and not a guard.

Cryder Lane sits about eight-tenths of a mile east of Halsey Neck Lane, with Gin Lane next to the east. Gin Lane is the neighbor with a name, and Halsey Neck Lane leads toward the quieter western stretch.

There are no restrooms or bins, so bring water and a trash bag. Parking and permits are on Hamptons Beach Pass. For lifeguards, go to Cooper’s Beach. The full list is on the Southampton page.
