Silver overcast morning, glassy wet sand reflecting the sky, small clean waves sliding up the beach, beach grass blurred in the foreground.

A walk with the Atlantic to yourself

Mind this
No lifeguard; the ocean stays cool well into July

Fowler Beach is an access point more than a destination. It is the easternmost of the Village road ends here, roughly nine-tenths of a mile east of Old Town Road. There are no lifeguards, no facilities and no published hours, so plan for sand, surf and wind.

In early summer the Atlantic here is cooler than it looks from the dune. The water temperature table shows how late the ocean warms. If the plan involves swimming with children, make Cooper’s Beach the base and come here for the walk.

Swim at your own risk. Bring water and a trash bag. Parking and permits are on Hamptons Beach Pass. Browse all Southampton beaches before you choose.
