Old Town Beach is a walking and sitting beach for the days Cooper’s feels like too much. The surf is the Atlantic’s, with a sandbar that shifts after storms, and there is no rescue stand or flag.
If you have children with you, drive the extra minutes to Cooper’s Beach for the guard stand and the showers, and use Old Town for the quiet end of the day. The road that serves Old Town sits between Wyandanch Lane and Fowler Street, with Wyandanch a sixth of a mile west and Fowler about nine-tenths of a mile east.
Swim at your own risk. Bring water and a trash bag. Parking and permits are on Hamptons Beach Pass. The Southampton page puts all the Village beaches in one place.
