Blue hour on an empty beach, long-exposure waves smoothed into silk, lavender sky with a thin line of orange at the horizon.

Little Plains Road Beach

A plain Village road end between Gin Lane and Wyandanch, for being outside rather than entertained.

  • Atlantic Ocean
  • No lifeguards
Best for
Being outside: sand, wind and space
Go when
Weekday evenings, when the light goes long
Mind this
Shifting sandbars, no shade, a long walk to a restroom

Little Plains Road Beach is a place to be outside rather than a place to be entertained. There is no lifeguard and nothing else to plan around, so expect the general conditions: open ocean and shifting sandbars, no shade, and a long walk to the nearest restroom.

It sits between Gin Lane to the west and Wyandanch Lane to the east, which makes Gin Lane and Wyandanch the two nearest alternatives. For swimming with children, Cooper’s Beach is the better-supported option.

Swim at your own risk. Bring water and a trash bag. Parking and permits are on Hamptons Beach Pass. The full set is on the Southampton page.
