A zigzag wooden snow fence on a dune, low sun backlighting the grass in gold, a hazy ocean beyond.

Road G Beach

The far western lettered road end: plenty of space on a weekday, and on a winter afternoon, all of it.

  • Atlantic Ocean
  • No lifeguards
Best for
Space: a long stretch of sand to share with a handful of people
Go when
A weekday outside July and August
Mind this
No lifeguard and no facilities

Road G does the same job as Road D: a road end and a path to the sand, with no lifeguards and no facilities. The lettered road ends run Road H, Road G, Road F and then Road D heading east, so Road G sits west of Road D.

Space is the draw. On a weekday outside July and August you may share a long stretch with a handful of people, and on a winter afternoon with nobody. If you came for a lifeguarded swim, Cooper’s Beach is the one that delivers it.

Swim at your own risk. Bring water and a trash bag. Parking and permits are on Hamptons Beach Pass. More in Southampton’s beach guide.
