A storm clearing over the Atlantic, shafts of light through big clouds, a rain squall out at sea, wide dark wet beach.

Road D Beach

A lettered Village road end: a path over the dune and the Atlantic.

  • Atlantic Ocean
  • No lifeguards
Best for
A long day on the sand, paired with Road G
Go when
Low tide, offshore wind, a weekday
Mind this
No lifeguard, no hours, no amenities

Road D is one of the Village’s lettered road-end accesses, the simplest kind of beach: a road end, a path over the dune and the Atlantic. There are no lifeguards, no published hours and no amenities, so the useful questions are practical. Is the tide high or low? Is the wind onshore? Do you have water and a plan for the trash?

It sits about one and three-quarter miles west of Halsey Neck Lane, with Road G, the next lettered road end, farther west. Road D pairs naturally with Road G Beach for a longer day, and with Cooper’s Beach when someone wants a lifeguard.
