Hither Hills puts the whole Montauk day inside one park: a long ocean beach, showers, a playground, food and a campground, with trails behind the dunes.
2026 season: lifeguarded swimming from May 23 to September 20, 10am to 5:30pm through June 26 and 10am to 6pm after that. There is an accessible swimming beach with accessible showers, and surfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddling are all allowed. Fishing is open year-round with a state permit, with recreation programs from June 27 to September 7.
Camping is what the Town beaches cannot match. The 2026 campground season runs April 10 to November 22, so a site works as a base for a weekend of Montauk beaches, not only this one.
State Parks charges a vehicle fee during scheduled hours, and the park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. Hamptons Beach Pass has the fees and the 4WD permit rules.
The other state park, Montauk Point, is out at the tip, and the Montauk itinerary puts both in one day. For dinner, Eat Hamptons lists Montauk restaurants.
