Beaches in Sag Harbor

Two bay beaches, one in the village and one a short drive out.

Sag Harbor is a bay-beach town. Havens Beach sits at the edge of the village and is run by the Village. Foster Memorial Beach, known as Long Beach, is a big Town of Southampton beach on Noyac Bay with lifeguards and over a mile of shoreline.

Both are calm compared with the ocean beaches an hour east. The difference is support: Long Beach has lifeguards, showers and a concession, while Havens has none listed and a long-running water-quality conversation.

The pick, by need

  1. Foster Memorial (Long) Beach

The better-equipped bay beach: guards, a marked swim area, showers and a concession

    Bay · Lifeguards in season

  2. Havens Beach

A village beach for a walk and a paddle, with a water-quality caveat

    Bay · No lifeguards

Havens was given to the people of Sag Harbor in 1924 for “quiet recreation,” a local advocacy group notes, and that is still its best use. Check the water-quality results before you swim. Long Beach is the choice for children.

Sag Harbor is also the jumping-off point for Shelter Island’s beaches: see the Shelter Island page and the Sag Harbor bay-beach itinerary. For permits see Hamptons Beach Pass.
